Adding Affliliate Link w/script to Sidebar Custom Content Widget

I have a basic account, and the LJ in question is here.

#1) I only know very basic css, and I'm not sure whether it's possible to do the following.

To register a blog with blogcatalog, you need to put a link to blogcatalog somewhere on your blog page. They provide you with little badges you can insert into your blog's HTML here.

One of the badges is a little "Rate me!" widget using a bit of script to create a rating pulldown menu, and a "blog catalog" image below that links back to their site.

This is the badge's code (the id # is my own blog's id):

<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript" src=""></script>
<noscript><a href="" title="Blog Directory, Find A Blog, Submit A Blog, Search For The Best Blogs">
Blog Catalog Blog Directory

I tried putting this in the Sidebar customization wizard, but of course, it's expecting CSS not HTML tags. Is there a way to "convert" the above to CSS, or insert the badge into my sidebar some other way?

#2) Less important, is there a way to change the "Designed by" text to say "Based on design by"?
