Hi, and welcome to s2expressive

  • Sep. 7th, 2006 at 10:14 PM
This community is for help with the new S2 style, Expressive. Please bear with us as we're still getting this community organized and set up. I know, I know, it's been a couple weeks since the themes have been released, but there are only so many hours in a day :(

branchandroot (who has been wonderful so far) and I working on an official list of tags so it will be easier to search for something you need help with, since chances are, someone else has already asked about it and it's been solved/explained.

If not, feel free to make a new post and ask. The more information you include in your post, the easier it will be for someone to help you. If you have a custom theme layer or custom CSS, please include it under an LJ-cut, or provide the url.

I'm really glad to see that there is already a bunch of great stuff on this community, guides and stylesheets submitted by you guys. I'm amazed at how much some of you have already figured out on your own! Thanks for sharing, and please continue to :D

For those of you who are still totally confused, I plan on making visuals that explain how the layout is structured (think "Expressive for Dummies"), and eventually a comprehensive CSS guide like s2flexisquares has.

If anyone is interested in helping maintain this community, either leave a comment or send me an email (chasethestars@livejournal.com). We're just starting out, and any help is appreciated. (note to self: create a list of tasks)

*falls on your neck with gratitude* Having someone about who's familiar with S2 will be a huge help. I can read it, but I can't "speak" it. And goodness knows, chasethestars has enough on her plate right now without trying to organize all the S2 stuff over here. I'm thinking a few really-really basic tutorials about "this is a layer" and "this is how you edit it" would be good to tide us all over until there's time to work on the in depth guides. It seems like there are a lot of people who don't know how to actually implement the help they're getting.

The latest draft of tags for this comm is up over at s2expressed. Can you think of anything we should add?

I know a bit about S2 but I wouldn't call myself any sort of expert. I'm figuring it out as I go. The languages I already know help in that respect (Java, PHP, IDL, HTML, CSS).

Basic tutorials would be excellent. I'll maybe get round to making some - I guess we post them in s2expressed first so we can each check them out?

Also, I suggest we put a clearly visible tag list at the side of this community asap so people can find stuff and know what tags to choose from. There are already lots of duplicate questions appearing.

*nodnod* I think we're just about ready to go with it. I think it would be best done as part of the link-list rather than just the alphabetical tagcloud/list, to preserve the category divisions (type, topic, etc.)
