Okay, I got home tonight and my beautiful Vegas layout suddenly has horrible vertical and horizontal scroll bars on it. A short time later, my roommate's Wine layout had the same thing happen. Is there any way I can get this to go away? It looks HIDEOUS, and I'm not going to be able to handle keeping the layout (which I loved prior to this) if the scroll bars are a part of it.

Any thoughts or ideas on how to get rid of them? Something with the layers or stylesheet, perhaps?

chasethestars says this code should get rid of it again.

html .asset-inner, .widget-inner {
overflow: hidden !important;
}

* html .asset-inner, .widget-inner {
overflow-x: hidden !important;
overflow-y: hidden !important;
width: 100% !important;
padding-bottom: 10px;

Just put that in your style sheet, or in the Custom Css box and you should be good.

Okay, I thought I looked at all the posts in the community, but obviously I missed this. In any case, THANK YOU. I really, really appreciate it! :)

No prob. *smiles* This bit of code was over in lj_releases, where some other people also are having scrollbars appear where they maybe shouldn't. What OS and browser are you using, if I can ask? It may help to figure out why they seem to be showing up on so many entries; it doesn't look to me like you should have had many overflow bars.

I use Mozilla and my roommmate uses Firefox, so I'm not sure why the scrollbars appeared. I had done some customization on my layout before, but the scrollbars didn't show up, and my roommate has done no customization.

Anyway, thanks again so much for the response. I was going nuts trying to figure out the problem. :)

What versions of Firefox/Mozilla are you and your roommate using?

The scrollbars are only supposed to show up on entries where the content doesn't fit (such as images that are too wide), but a few people have been reporting seeing scrollbars on almost every entry. The more information we can get about why and where they're showing, the more of an idea we'll have on how to fix it :)

I'm not sure about my roommate (she's deep in lala land right now), but I'm using Mozilla 1.7.8 on Windows XP Home. And yes, the scrollbars seemed almost random, but they were on the majority of my entries, and I couldn't see why they would show up in 99% of the cases, since there was no content that should have overflowed.

I'm going out of town, but if I rememember I'll ask my roommate to comment with her version of Firefox. :)

Thanks again for the fix!

Just to give you more info - I"m using Firefox version 1.0.6 and the scrollbars were showing up on nearly every entry for me. I put that code in though and that fixed things right up!

It seems to be quite a selective problem since the latest code release or whatever they did. I haven't seen it, and I'm using the latest Firefox with Windows XP Home.

And there it is - IE tab shows it, on a few entries.

Yeah, this one seems to be really sporadic. I've checked it in Firefox on both my macs (Panther and Tiger) and neither shows it.
