Help needed

  • Mar. 11th, 2007 at 10:54 PM
I just switched my journal layout to one of the expressive styles. I really like it, but I want to change the way the date is displayed. I'd like the layout to spell out the full name of the month and also not display a "th" or "st" after the date. For example: instead of saying "Mar.11th, 2007", I would like it to say "March 11, 2007."

I don't know CSS at all...can some kind soul please give me the proper code to dump in somewhere and fix this issue? I'd appreciate it!

this type of change is not performed by css. unfortunately, it requires a paid account make this alteration.

i musta missed it if you had one all this time. weird.

anyway, this layout seems to force the "medium" form of the date when dates are printed.

the code that you need is:
set lang_fmt_date_med = "%%month%% %%dd%%, %%yyyy%%";

the way to implement it though depends on how your style looks.

if you can edit your bolded style and tell me everything that the page says, i can help you further.

create a theme layer (section 3).
put the following into your theme layer:
set base_theme          = "unity-playful-cherry-blossom";
set theme_bgcolor       = "#ffffff";
set theme_fgcolor       = "#333333";
set theme_bordercolor   = "#ffffff";
set theme_linkcolor     = "#e37f80";
set theme_designer      = "";
set theme_designer_type = "";
that takes care of your colors.

then add:
set lang_fmt_date_med = "%%month%% %%dd%%, %%yyyy%%";
that takes care of the date.

Look through the entries tagged with "date/time"; that's what the tags are there for.

I did that, but I still don't understand exactly what I have to change. I see a lot of code and nothing makes sense! Where do I plug it in?

I'm in the midst of writing a tutorial for the community, if you can stay tuned. ;)
