Hello all,

I'm having trouble loading some of my friend's pages, and it looks like they're all using Expressive or Mixit. I'm currently running Firefox (though it didn't work for v. either) on a WinXP Pro machine.

The same pages are perfectly viewable in IE, which bugs the hell outta me. ;)

I tried clearing my cache and reinstalling Firefox twice now, according to one of the bug posts, but it hasn't worked. Do you guys have any other ideas?

Thanks in advance! :D

[edit] Someone suggested this: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox and it worked! Restoring Firefox defaults fixed my problem. :)

I've never had a problem like that with Firefox and Expressive, but the fact that you're having the same issues with two different versions leads me to believe the CSS isn't being processed correctly. Are you using any content-blocking extensions, or behind a proxy?
There's this article at MozillaZine Knowledge Base, maybe try some of those suggestions. Or if there's really a problem with the Expressive CSS, you could submit a support request.

Thanks! I've tried deleting cookies and clearing the cache (again), but it hasn't worked. Do you know how to affect how Firefox processes CSS?

What's confusing is that, generally, FF has some of the best CSS support of any browser out there. It's also perplexing because neither nimoloth nor chasethestars nor I can reproduce the problem, and I know I tried disabling stylesheets one at a time to see if that would do it. That said, I'm not out of ideas yet:
  • How many different pages are rendering like this? Is it only LJs using Expressive layouts? Only certain themes?

  • What about Bloggish or Flexible Squares pages, which are also heavily CSS-based? Vox pages are nearly the same as Expressive; how do they look?

  • You didn't answer my question before about FF extensions. Are you using any that might block content or affect page rendering? Try disabling all of them, then re-enabling one at a time.

Strangely enough, the main LJ page is also screwing up for me if I'm logged out. This one was only recent though, I know that. o_O So no, it's not just Expressive.

Vox seems to be working right. I don't think any of my friends are using the other two, but I'm not sure about that.

As far as I know, I'm not using any FF extensions at all, unless the normal installation came with any. Where can I find them if there are any to be found?

Thanks a lot! :)

I don't think any of my friends are using the other two, but I'm not sure about that.
You could try viewing s2_bloggish, s2flexisquares, or even previewing your own journal in the different styles (through the Customize Journal wizard).
Extensions are under Tools->Extensions in FF 1.5, Tools->Add-ons in FF 2.0. Unfortunately, troubleshooting Firefox, especially in a community for LJ customization, is a bit out of my league. I would look for help with Firefox specifically, and hopefully they won't tell you "it's a problem with LJ/Vox's site". :(

Both Bloggish and Flexible Squares are okay. I've disabled the only extension I'm currently using, and that hasn't helped with anything either. ><

I will ask them about it and keep you all posted. Thanks a lot for your help! :D

Scratch that, Vox doesn't work for me either. ><

I know this probably doesn't help you much, but I'm using Firefox on XP (and until a few days ago on Debian Linux too) and everything is fine.

I've tried, and it doesn't work for me either. :(
