Creating entry dividers

  • Sep. 4th, 2006 at 12:12 PM
Hi folks!

I'm looking for a way to make dividers between my entries, maybe in the form of:

a) an images beneath each one?
b) a stroke/line/rule/border beneath each one?
c) a coloured area that surrounds the heading of each entry?

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated :)

For an image, try

.asset-footer { background: url(file-path-of-your-picture) center no-repeat; }

A rule might be easiest to do similarly, by

.asset-footer { border-bottom: 2px solid black; }

And a colored heading you can get with

.asset-header { background: #550000; }

or whatever other color you want to use.

Hope one of those works for what you want!

My pleasure.

Oh, just thought! If you do the ruled line, you'll probably want to also put in something like height:20px or something, so the line is a bit separate from the body of the entry.

I'm trying toget the .asset-footer to work, but for some reason the dividers don't show up when I refresh my journal.

I'm currently using:

.asset-footer { background: url(http://pics.livejournal.com/hearmemeep/pic/000cap9k) center no-repeat; }

Is there something I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance! :)

Ah, I forgot to include the part about defining the hight. *facepalm* Just add

.asset-footer { height: 30px }

Or possibly a few more pixels, if you want more clear space around the image. That should do it.

I did mine in CSS w/

.asset-inner{
border-bottom: 3px solid #97C581;
}

The color I am using is a shade of green, but put in whatever you want of course.

i'm still tweaking my overall colours and images, i like the colours and theme of my header, i just need to remake it so it works with the links up the top and make matching mood theme and extra :)
