Wow, First Post!

I'm currently using the Weston Blue theme on a paid account. I tried to tweak the graphics and such by copying the theme specific stylesheet and hosting it on my server but it didn't seem to work. Is there a different way I'm supposed to go about this with the Expressive layouts?

Other things I'd like to do:

1.) Remove the tags and calendar from the sidebar.
2.) Add an additional place on the sidebar where I can include my own information
3.) Decrease the font size on the title.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

2) Oh, wait, wait -- I think I've seen some change to the expressive layout which added an option to include your own text in a sidebar. So we're going to see that too. However, if you want to include HTML in it, you'd need to use custom theme layer.

to elaborate on that point:

if you want to use HTML, copy the layer source and put it in your own top-level layout, then find the function print_module_customtext and just above the line close_module();, add these two lines:

between these two lines, you can add all your wonderful custom text/images in HTML. enjoy =)

Thank you for the instruction! I'm at a loss though. I have copied the source for layer id 7176168 (Expressive), created a new top level layout layer (7731593), pasted in the Expressive source and found the print_module_customtext and done as advised above. Between the lines I've added some test HTML, but it doesn't appear on my page (http://marleyboy.livejournal.com).

I've created a custom theme layer (7271327) and attempted to paste the Expressive source into it, but that breaks the compiler. What am I doing wrong?

without the complete source, i can't really say what it is you're doing wrong. all i can give you is a complete set of instructions i gave to someone a few days ago that worked and tell you to make sure you've done everything in those instructions correctly. here goes:

after you create the top-level layer and change its base theme and layout to that of your choice, find the section of code that says

property string seventh_item {
des = "Seventh item in sidebar";
values = "none|(none)|userprofile|Profile|calendar|Calendar|links|Links|tags|Tags|archive|Page Summary|syndicate|Syndicate|customtext|Custom Text";
set seventh_item = "none";

change that "none" to "customtext"

then find the function print_module_customtext and just above the line that says close_module(); add """YOUR HTML""";

Thank you very much for your help!

I must be doing something completely wrong. I've performed the above edits. But it doesn't seem affect anything. My layer setup is right here. Has this been setup correctly? The top one, 7731593 is the one with these edits. The source is right here.

The child of layer 7176168 with the auto generated customization affects the content as it should. What am I missing?

at a glance i can't see anything wrong with your code. i can't look at it in more detail right now, because i'm on a time crunch, but you should check out [Unknown LJ tag] (if you haven't already), maybe post there and see if anyone can figure out what's wrong.

sorry i can't be of more help.
