Hi, hopefully these aren't covered in existing posts; I had a quick look through the tags but didn't find answers. I'm on a basic account.

1) If Expressive and Mixit are the same layout, why does it go by two names?

2) Does content ever appear in #footer? If so, what content, and how can I see it?

3) Where do I choose between the different column layouts described in this post?

I think Mixit vs. Expressive goes way back to the "before time", those bygone days when LJ was still owned by SixApart (you're really making me reach here). SA had its own quasi-LJ/MySpace service, the dearly departed "Vox", which is why the internal name of the layout is "voxhtml" and there are still references to sixapart in the code. As I recall, the themes that SA already developed for Vox and were ported to LJ were designated as "Expressive", and the "Mixit" heading would be for those developed by and for use on LJ. As to what degree that actually happened, I'm not sure, because SUP eventually took over LJ, the design people were either laid off or stayed with SA, and further development ceased.

The only thing in #footer is a banner ad. You want to see that?

You change the column layout at the bottom of the Choose Journal Style page.

d'oh, the page I skip over every single time to get to the "real" customization pages.

Very helpful reply, thank you! (bye bye #footer)
