I'm having the reverse problem with Firefox tags -- my list tags are being displayed in multiple sizes as if in a cloud. I'm helping a friend with a new layout for her journal. See what I mean HERE. Not only does it make the high usages larger, even more frustrating is that it makes the others so small they're barely legible. I'm currently working with a modified Mixit layout, and I have a Plus account.

The CSS Code
/* --- tags --- */

.asset-tags-header { color: #000000;  font-family: arial; font-weight: 300; font-size: 0.8em; text-transform: lowercase;
    display: block; float: left;
    width: 3.5em; /* matches .asset-tags-content width */

    margin: 0px; padding: 10px;
    font-size: 0.8em !important;
    }
.asset-tags-list {margin: 0 0 0 3.5em; padding: 10px; list-style-type: none; text-transform: uppercase; font-size: .8em; border:1px solid #cccccc; background: #ffffff;;}
.asset-tags-list li {display: inline; padding-right: 5px;}
.asset-tags-list a {white-space: normal; color: #4198ac;!important;}

Also, I really love the search capability you have on the main page for this community. I can't seem to find any information about it though and have a few questions: Is it available to paid members only? Can it be added to any LJ layout, or Expressive/Mixit only? Where can I find more information, or the coding for it?

Did you switch the tag cloud/list option in the sidebar options area?

As for the search box, just put this in:

<form method="get" action="http://www.livejournal.com/search/"><input name="q" size="50" type="text"><button type="submit">Search</button><input name="type" value="advanced" type="hidden"><input name="journal" value="NAME OF JOURNAL" type="hidden"><input name="area" value="posts_and_comments" type="hidden"></form>

and just exchange the NAME OF JOURNAL for the actual name. :)

I will have her double check the tag cloud, just in case. Thanks for the search code! :D

Just got her response - you're right, somehow her tag settings were changed from list to cloud. It's fixed and displaying correctly now. Thanks for your assistance!

The code works fine, and I subsituted the name for my own journal, but the search function doesn't find anything. I've tried words I use a lot, both in my entry bodies & subject lines. Is this just an LJ problem or something I can fix?

That's weird. I've tried it at one of my test communities and it worked. Then I tried it in my personal journal and it didn't. Huh. :D Maybe some settings are blocking it, I've tried checking off the options of minimizing search for search engines, so it's possible the public entries weren't indexed by those engines and that's why it can't find anything...It won't search in friends-locked entries, either.

I really have no idea though. :(

And I really only just now (duh!) noticed your icon... and then thought that your username sounded familiar, lol. Hello Chlollier!

On which journal are you using the search code?

I've tested it at both my private journal (smallvillefics) and at the community chlollie_links, both to no avail.

I'm not seeing a search box anywhere. Can you give me a direct link?

I apologize, I had taken it down since I was having problems. You can now see it in the sidebar here:

It might not be anything you've done wrong, then. The Yandex search engine is... flaky. I've seen a lot of Support requests about searches failing for communities but they're hard to duplicate.

I wondered about that. Okay, thanks for your help! :)
