Favicon help.

Basic info: Layout is Mixit / I'm running Firefox 3.6 (and Chrome) / Paid Account

Hi guys! I'm having a bit of trouble with reconciling two codes. A few months ago, I installed this layout by thefulcrum (with a few minor color tweaks). As opposed to previous layouts, she instructs that the css code be pasted here.

Now, everything works okay except for the favicon code that oxoniensis introduced here.

I added a space before 'link' to make the code visible)

function Page::print_custom_head()

{

"""

< link rel="shortcut icon" href="http://yourwebsite/favicon.ico"/>

< link rel="icon" type="image/x-icon" href="http://yourwebsite/favicon.ico"/>

""";

}

I have tried pasting the favicon code in the same location thefulcrum instructed but it doesn't work. I have also tried going to my layers and pasting it directly here, and while that works for a little while, the code disappears after a few days. (I suspect this might be because the customizations are auto-generated?)

Long story short: how do I integrate the favicon code into my current CSS-code or how do I make it not disappear from my layer? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Using Page::print_custom_head() is a theme layer change, not CSS; therefore, you can't paste it in the Custom CSS box. And, as you've found out, copying it into a user layer (Auto-generated Customizations) causes it to get overwritten when you make any changes in the customization interface. You'll have to create an actual theme layer and paste the code in there. There's a whole tutorial on creating a theme layer properly here.

Oooh, thanks for the reply! I shall look into that tutorial.

And can my current CSS be combined with the theme layer?

Yes, I tried to cover that in the tutorial.

Indeed you did! I hit reply a bit too fast, I think.

Anyway, I want to thank you for the help -- I think I've gotten everything the way I want it.
