Hi, I'm a paid member.

I have a jounal I love ([info]susanwrites ) and I am trying to adapt that design for a new journal[info]poppiness

I've made some of the changes I want but what I can't figure out how to do is to enlarge the center section so that I can post larger pictures. The sidebars on each side are a fine width so I thought I could reduce the green on each side in order to get a larger center section but like I said, I can't figure out how to do it.

My viewable layer can be found here.     Style23786634 can be found here

NOTE: I've let go of this idea and altered the design to a 2 column that gives me more room for photos.
Thanks anyway. I've learned a lot reading all the posts here. Let me know if you want the subject to say something other than SCRATCHED.

There are instructions for changing the width in this post, the comments here, and other posts tagged page:size. The problem you're going to have with your layout is that you'll have to change the widths of your background and header graphics to fit the larger size.

Well I have done what I could but have to admit defeat for now because I need to get this blog launched today. I would still love to solve this but if you go to the links in the entry now it will look different.

To show you the situation I put a screenshot of the problem of the shifted sidebars here:

And the code that caused it is here:

Sorry I didn't see your other replies. You'll need to add these lines and tweak a bit:

.layout-twt #alpha { width: 560px; }
.layout-twt #alpha-inner { width: 520px; }
.layout-twt #alpha { left: 190px; }
.layout-twt #beta { left: -560px; }

Change "560px" to whatever you want the width of the center column to be, and the "520px" to that width minus 40px for padding.

Thanks for the pointers. I did try to find the info but I obviously wasn't looking in the right places. I'll go give it a shot.

Well I am closer but still missing something basic though I have been reading all the links you pointed me too.

I increased the header and the background and it is fine but I can't seem to move the sidebars into place. The left sidebar overlaps to the left just a little and the right won't move at all. I don't know what controls that - is it margin or padding or something that I don't have in there at all?

I don't "know" CSS so I am just hacking here and really appreciate the help.
