line through my sidebar

  • Jul. 3rd, 2008 at 8:18 AM
so, i have a vertical line through my sidebar.
i went to this entry to solve the problem, but putting that in my stylesheet didn't seem to help.
also, i notice the use of # instead of . with some of the css stuff (it seems to have replaced itself in part of my stylesheet).  i assume they are interchangeable.....?
i use a basic account.

.layout-wt #content-inner { background-image: none; }
.widget { border: none; }

#container-inner, #header-inner {
  width: 1200px
}

#header img {
  margin-left: 150px
}

#header-content-inner {
  margin-left: 150px
}

#alpha {
  width: 900px
}

.layout-tw #alpha-inner {
  width: 860px
}

#beta {
  width: 300px
}

#beta-inner {
  width: 280px
}

a[href*=calendar] {
  display: none
}

.widget-inner a:hover {
  text-decoration: underline
}

.archive-widget .widget-list {
  font-family: serif
}

.archive-widget .widget-list a:link {
  text-decoration: none;
  font-weight: normal
}

.asset-header h2 {
  font-family: times new roman;
  font-size: large
}

It didn't work because your sidebar is on the left, not the right. Thus the appropriate CSS class is .layout-tw, not .layout-wt.

The # is for selecting by the ID attribute, whereas the . is for class attribute, and they're not interchangeable. I'd suggest looking for a CSS tutorial on the Web, because I can't completely explain the differences.
