Centering Header Image: Sorbet Pink

  • Apr. 30th, 2008 at 12:04 AM
Hi everyone! I sincerely apologize if I'm missing something, but after spending the last hour perusing the memories and trying everything I could find on centering header images, I'm at a loss. And the best part is, I know how to center images fine in regular html, but this CSS has me completely stumped.

Here is what I have in my Custom CSS box:

#header-inner {
    background-image: url("http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e167/reflection_muse/nana_header.jpg");
    height: 600px;
width: 800px;
position: center;

}

#header {
    background-image: none;
}

Thank you, and again I'm so sorry if I'm just missing something.

Edit: Oh, and when I try to put in the following, my header image becomes overlapped by the top navigation text.

background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-position: center;

"Center" is not enough for the background-position specifier; you need a vertical and horizontal alignment. Add:
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-position: bottom center;
width: 900px;

EDIT: big difference

Thank you very, very much! That makes sense. I will take this info and apply it to my header tonight after work. :)

P.S. That worked like a charm. Thank you!
