Table borders in Expressive

  • Apr. 1st, 2008 at 10:34 AM
I've got a prompt table that was supposed to be a simple cut-and-paste - but with Expressive, the borders of the table don't show up at all. I checked with both Firefox and IE and the borders are just not there. Is this a weird bug thing with Expressive? The table's HTML code seems to work with other layouts, just not Expressive. I have customized my layout a little, but I've just started. Could I have done something wrong?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Edit: Problem solved. Expressive has a default of no borders on tables, which is what I'd guessed. Yay! Thank you for the help.

This part in base.css hides the borders in tables from Expressive layouts:

h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6, p, blockquote, pre,
ol, ul, li, dl, dt, dd,
table, td, form, fieldset,
abbr, code {
margin: 0;
border: 0;
padding: 0;
font-size: 1em;
font-weight: normal;

Put this into the Custom CSS box:
table, td {
border: 1px solid;

Change "1px" to any number if you want a larger border. You can also define a color if you want with "border: 1px solid #ffffff".

That will put borders on all tables, including where you don't want them like the sidebar calendar.

.asset-body table, td {
border: 1px solid;

should apply to just the entry

Thank you so much, that solved the problem for me.

Was this information somewhere else that I couldn't find? If not, would it be possible to get a entries:table tag for this post? I don't know if everyone in the world but me knew that Expressive hides table borders, but it would make this tidbit of information easier to find for others.

There was a similar post tagged "entries:misc"... and I gave the same solution as chasethestars, not thinking about the border around the calendar. =(
