Adding a header with a plus account

  • Sep. 12th, 2006 at 12:10 AM

I have the Weston blue theme with a plus account, and what I would like to do is add an image above the title and links. How do I go about doing that?

Do you want to add a picture or text? The picture can be done with css, but adding another block of text up there will require S2.

I apologize for not specifying. I want a picture above, not text. I'll edit my post.

This is for the Taylor Kitsch comm, yes? Remember to also say what account you're asking about, in the future, so people can take a look at it.

It looks to me like #header-content-inner does not have a background specified already, so that's probably your best bet: to add a line to the Custom Css box that says

#header-content-inner { background: url(file-path-of-your-image) top center no-repeat; }

That will put in the image. You can make the image move further down the page by changing the top margin. That would be a line like

#header-content-inner { margin-top: 30px; }

or however many pixels down the page you want the header image to move. If the image is very wide, you may also need to put in

#header-content-inner { width: width-of-your-image; }

where the width of your image is also given in pixels. Eg 400px or 200px. This is to make sure the sides of the html container don't cut off the image; background images do not cause the containers they're in to expand at all, so if you want a big background to show, you have to specify that the container is as wide as the background. Now, to get the header text clear of that image, you also want to put in a line that says

#header-text { margin-top: height-of-your-image; }

See if that works out.

When I add the above to my custom CSS I get this:

Not quite what I was looking for lol.

If you want more help with this, you need to tell me what you /are/ looking for. Is the text not moving down the way it should, or is the picture getting cut off, in which case you need to specify the height, too, or what?
